Bessie the serving woman, aka author and speaker Rosemary Griggs was at St Nicholas Priory, Exeter on Saturday 25 March chatting with visitors about women's work, needlework and knitting.
NoneThose who attended Thursday Club last week were stunned and transfixed by n exceptional presentation............ ...in swept the Lady Katherine in full and sumptuous Tudor costume .... ....Rosemary's well researched novel A Woman of Noble Wit" is based on the life and times of Katherine Champernwone of Modbury during the reign of King Henry VIII. Unlike most novels set in Tudor times the action takes place =, not at Court but entirely in devon with many local references...... It was a most remarkable presentation, drama, fashion show, information in great dial, living history and all a delight to eye and ear.
NoneWe have just had a wonderful afternoon with Rosemary Griggs whose book on the life of Lady Katherine Champernowne 'A Woman of Noble Wit' was brought to life through her fascinating and fun presentation. Rosemary makes her own costumes and described them in great detail. I think we all learnt something and we certainly had a good laugh!!
NoneA lovely write up sent the Sampford Peverell and Uploman Parish news following a recent visit to Uploman, a lovely village about 4 miles north east of Tiverton, Devon. ".....Rosemary Griggs, in the guise of The Lady Katherine, transported to us from Tudor times.... she certainly brought history to life.... a most enjoyable evening."
NoneRosemary Griggs has been out and about on an impromptu tour of Waterstones bookshops in Devon - wearing that Red Hat! You can snap up a signed copy of my story of Sir Walter Raleigh’s mother, “A Woman of Noble Wit”, in Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torquay or Plymouth.
